The DC4K Boot Camp contains four dynamic workshops. Each one blends DVD video, group discussion and group exercises. The videos feature footage from a live DC4K training event recorded in a church environment. Here’s what’s covered in each workshop.

Workshop 1 — Welcome, Devotion and the Big Green Box

This workshop introduces you to DC4K. During this workshop you’ll:

• Hear testimonies of children who’ve experienced DC4K.
• Discover the importance of developing relationships with the children.
• Learn about all the tools in the Big Green Box (your DC4K kit).
• Take a walk through the “Monster” DC4K Leader’s Guide and learn how to effectively use it.

Workshop 2 — Principles Specific to DC4K

DC4K isn’t your typical kid’s program. So in this workshop, we show you the unique, DC4K principles you need to know to run it successfully. During this workshop you’ll:

• Learn why routines and safety are key to developing your DC4K program.
• Discover what a relational environment is, why it’s vital and how to develop one.
• Become aware of the Christ-centered theme that gives life to the entire DC4K program.
• Find out about the critical logistical details that each leader must pay attention to, such as the best room in your church to meet, group size, adult-to-child ratio, budget needs and the registration process.
• Be exposed to proven ideas on how to promote your DC4K group, and much more.

Workshop 3 — Understanding Stations and a Word on Discipline

Setting up your room properly and managing the behavior of your DC4K group is important to your ministry’s success. Workshop 3 makes sure you’re sharp in these areas. During this workshop you’ll:

• Come to understand how to create an environment that best fits your needs as well as the needs of hurting children.
• Hear tips for accommodating the stressed and angry children.
• Discover the difference between discipline and punishment.

Workshop 4 — Children in a Session and Internet Tools

Workshop 4 shows you what you need to know about a child’s brain in order to help each child get the most out of DC4K. During this workshop you’ll:

• Hear how to apply basic brain research principles to children in your group.
• See the difference understanding brain research makes when it comes to helping the children in your group.
• Observe role-plays that show you exactly how to handle disruptive, moody and energetic children in your group.
• Discover the vast internet tools Church Initiative provides for each and every DC4K church.
