Kids Need A Place To Heal Too...

Overlake's DivorceCare for Kids is offered in-person (with health/safety precautions taken) to the children of parents attending OCC's DivorceCare or Celebrate Recovery support groups on Tuesday evenings from 7 pm - 9 pm (mid-Sept. through early March). DC4K provides kids (ages 5 through 10 or so) with an empathetic and neutral environment to help them gain an age-appropriate understanding of separation and divorce. Our hope is that your child will also learn how to better process and share their feelings as they travel the road of healing.

Your kids probably feel scared, sad, and confused by the relationship upheaval that YOU are experiencing. They know this is a difficult, painful time - and may hide their feelings because they're worried about your happiness...or because they don't really know how to express their feelings. DC4K helps them process those feelings and offers them some words and tools to better communicate their thoughts with you.

During the 12 Tuesday evenings of DC4K, your child will be part of a fun, caring group that meets in Overlake's "KidTown." DC4K is led by parents who have experienced the pain of divorce - and walked the road of healing.

The weekly topics help children understand that God’s love can help them through this difficult time - turn their sadness to hope - their anger to joy.

Each session also offers a variety of activities - games, crafts, role playing, discussion times and activity books to help kids process what they're parents/family members are going through, and move forward in their lives.

The music, snacks, read-aloud stories, group time and Bible verses help show your children how to relax and rest secure in God’s love. The Kids Like Me and Stories from the Bible video dramas present vignettes of children very similar to your kids - they too have experienced challenges in their lives and have found help and encouragement on the road of healing.
